WINTER GASTRONOMY FESTIVAL
A good Calçotada is another of the activities that we offer in Discover l’Horta. The activity is outdoors in the garden and is meant to be enjoyed with groups of Friends and families.
The Calçotada in Descubre l’Horta is a winter gastronomic activity.
All of the Calçots are grown in the In Descubre l’Horta garden.
The Calçotis a type of white onion that is grown in a unique way and doesn´t resemble a traditional White onion in its appearance. They are similar to green onions except they are much longer and thicker .
You will learn the characteristics of its cultivation, and you will activily participate in the process of both cooking at eating an authentic Calçotada.
The Calçotadas are organized from mid-December to the beginning of March. Calçots and are cooked over an intense wood fire, they are burnt on the outside, but tender and juicy on the inside, and are served with a special romesco sauce.
The romesco sauce is made from the following ingredients: toasted almonds and hazelnuts, tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, garlic, sweet red paprika and a pinch of salt .
While the Calçots are cooking, we will serve an appetizers from the Garden, and after the Calçots we will continue with grilled artichokes and a good “Torrà de xulles (Barbecue)” which uncludes sausage, black sausage, chorizo, bacon and lamb chops.
For dessert we will have roasted pumpkin with homemade jam, Coca Cristina,( typical of Borbotó ) and mistela. Coffee and Tea.
All drinks included in the price (even coffee).
Discover l’Horta is a outdoor space with a Mediterranean Organic Garden, and Terrace style tables .
It is located in the heart of the farmland in the north of Valencia (l’Horta Nord).
It is 15 minutes from the city centre and has a space for private parking .
Borbotó can also be reached by public transport, with EMT line 26 (city bus).
